Hungarian Foreign Affairs Ministry’s reaction to Swiss Social-Democrat’s Anti-Orbán Statement
As we (the reporters of vs.hu – ed.) reported before, the president of the second most powerful party in the Swiss coalition government gave an interview today requesting that Hungary’s financial support be frozen and Viktor Orban be declared persona non grata in Switzerland. According to the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this statement can only serve to create an unfortunate political climate.
In its statement, the Ministry writes: „When dealing with and providing for the incredible amount of refugees, Hungary complies with all EU regulations and does its utmost to protect the Schengen borders.”
The above was issued in response to a request of the President of the Swiss Social Democratic Party, who suggested in an interview that Switzerland freeze Hungary’s financial support, due to the „human rights issues and the refugee scandal” there. Christian Levrat furthermore suggested to Swiss authorities to deny entry to the country to PM Viktor Orban. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs stated: such statements are only going to create an unfortunate political atmosphere, and are not helpful at all in finding a solution.
