Ultimatum at Röszke: if a decision is not made by 1 pm to allow refugees to enter the country, there will be trouble
At around quarter past eleven refugees stranded at the Serbian side of the border started wrapping rags around the razor wire fence and shaking it. One of them asked the others to calm down, but he gave the police an ultimatum: there will be trouble unless a decision is made by 1 pm to allow refugees to cross the border – Atv.hu reported.
Late Wednesday morning refugees at Röszke wrapped rags around the razor wire and tried to break it down – Atv.hu wrote in their minute-by-minute coverage. Two or three migrants were shaking the fence violently, one was shouting at the police. An M1 correspondent also reported chanting and shouting from the other side of the border.
Fully equipped riot police is facing the angry crowd. The heat is intense and the migrants waiting at the crossing point have very little water – reported the local correspondent.
Later a migrant tried to calm the others down, and he gave the police an ultimatum: unless they are allowed to cross the border at 1pm, there will be trouble; nobody knows what this threat means exactly.
La Repubblica reported that stones were thrown, but it is unclear whether the information comes from their local correspondent or some other source.
Meanwhile Serbian authorities took several refugees back to the camp in Magyarkanizsa in agreement with the UN.
